This regional art center is a showcase for professional performing and visual arts as well as cultural festivals and educational programs for children and adults.
Each year the Arts Center brings in artists to present pop, jazz and classical concerts, contemporary dance performances, comedy acts, and cultural programs.
This 45,000 square-foot facility offers theatre, performing and visual arts series as well as education and community outreach programs. The third largest arts organization in South Carolina, it was awarded the 2006 Elizabeth O’Neill Verner Award, the highest honor bestowed by the state in the arts.
The Arts Center hosts musical performances throughout the year in its 350-seat jewel of a theatre. Offering a diverse selection of pop, jazz, ethnic and classical performances. The concerts have included a wide range of nationally and internationally renowned Grammy-winners, among them Marvin Hamlisch, Rita Coolidge, Jennifer Holliday, Melissa Manchester, Chuck Mangione and Dave Brubeck.
Each year, the Arts Center presents five different locally produced Broadway-style plays. This season, the theatre has presented three more Tony Award-winning productions, including ‘Alfred Hitchcock’s The 39 Steps,’ ‘Hairspray,’ ‘To Kill a Mockingbird,”Gypsy,’ and ‘Singing in the Rain.’ These critically acclaimed productions feature professional actors, directors, scenic artists and choreographers from major markets, including New York and Atlanta.
